As a tribute to Prince and as a way to get some needed attention to dogs at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View, Ohio, the staff dressed a bunch of the dogs up like Prince. They then posted the pictures on their Facebook page to attract people to adopt the dogs.

It’s working. At least one of the dogs has now been adopted. When the article below was written earlier today, three dogs that were pictured were still looking for a forever home. Hopefully this will help them find one.

Dressing the dogs up is a great way to draw attention to the dogs that need adoption and according to Mindy Naticchioni, the shelter’s director, it helps. They do it quite often.

Mindy Naticchioni, the shelter’s director, told BuzzFeed News the shelter’s volunteers often promote their dogs for adoption on their Facebook page where they dress the pups in various outfits.

But with the tragic death of Prince last week, the animal shelter’s volunteers saw an opportunity to honor the late artist’s legacy by having the animals strike some serious poses.

“I think it’s obvious we’re all still mourning the loss of Prince,” said Naticchioni. “We’re saying good bye to him by putting it on the friendly faces of dogs.”
