CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Kluber and Kipnis are being shopped around on the eve of the World Series, but there is reason to cheer, Indians fans.

The names belong to two dogs at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, where four others also have been named from the Indians roster.

"Two weeks ago, staff and volunteers began picking names, and we'll start promoting those dogs on social media," said Mindy Naticchioni, the animal shelter administrator.

Cabrera has already gone the way of Rocky Colavito. But Danny (Salazar) and Francisco (Lindor) are still looking for homes.

There is also Michael Phelps, if Olympic champions are more to your liking.

Naticchioni said people at the shelter have been naming the dogs after people in the news for at least two years.

"In April, we had one named for Prince when he died," she said.

If you adopt, you are not obliged to maintain the name that the shelter applied. But if the team clinches the World Series, who could resist such adorable pieces of sports history as roster-ready dogs in need of homes?

Naticchioni said most of the dogs are $95 apiece. The cost includes vaccinations, spaying or neutering, an embedded chip and a license.

Puppies are $160. None is currently named for anyone on the Indians roster.

"But they don't usually need help getting adopted," Naticchioni said.

The shelter is at 9500 Sweet Valley Drive in Valley View. Phone is 216-0525-7877, or you can see the dogs on the shelter's adopt me page on cuyahogadogs.com.

One last thing: This is no time for Dawg Pound jokes.
